"Reconstruction" chairs were designed by René Gabriel and manufactured in France circa 1946. Solid Oak wood base and structure in good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a various beautiful patina. René Gabriel (1890–1950) was a French decorative artist and designer specializing in furniture series (meuble de série.) He had a clean, logical style that inspired many new designers in the years after World War II (1939–1945.) The prestigious Prix René Gabriel continues to be awarded to French designers for modern designs that can be mass-produced.
