- 1970's High Barrel Back Rattan ChairLocated in San Carlos, CAVery cool and boho chic rattan woven wicker chair. This one of a kind rattan chair comes with a unique high barrel back and comfortable seat. The chair sits on a bamboo frame for strength. This chair is in excellent structural condition. It is still as strong as ever and will easily last another 50 years if not more. Some reeds are snapped which is not uncommon and doesn't affect structural integrity. There's some discoloration due to age. See pictures for details. Rattan, also spelled ratan (from Malay: rotan), is the name for roughly 600 species of Old World climbing palms belonging to subfamily Calamoideae. The greatest diversity of rattan palm species and genera are in the closed-canopy old-growth tropical forests of Southeast Asia, though they can also be found in other parts of tropical Asia and Africa. Most rattan palms are ecologically considered lianas due to their climbing habits, unlike other palm species. A few species also have tree-like or shrub-like habits. Around 20% of rattan palm species are economically important and are traditionally used in Southeast Asia in producing wickerwork furniture, baskets, canes, woven mats, cordage, and other handicrafts. Rattan canes are one of the world's most valuable non-timber forest products. Some species of rattan also have edible scaly fruit and heart of palm. Despite increasing attempts in the last 30 years at commercial cultivation, almost all rattan products...Category

Printed by Editions Marquet for Gallery Marquet in Paris, France. This print is in great condition, see pictures for details. It comes unframed. Jean-Michel Folon’s (Belgium 1934 - 2005) enigmatic landscapes and mysterious humanoid forms helped revolutionize conceptual approaches to illustration in the late 20th century. While Folon has worked across multiple disciplines—including painting, textile, sculpture, stained glass, and printmaking—he is perhaps best known for his drawings and watercolors depicting landscapes in the vein of Surrealist masters such as Salvador Dalí and René Magritte. These works depicted idyllic forests and prison-like skyscrapers populated by butterfly or bird/human hybrids he called “Everymen.” Folon’s drawings were published in such publications as Esquire, The New Yorker, and Time, among others, and he illustrated a number of well-known books. Folon widely exhibited during his lifetime, including at institutions such as Les Arts Décoratifs, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, and the Musée Picasso...Category
