Stunning late 20th to early 21st century Modern Carter Furniture club chair attributed to Zen Collection fully upholstered in bright red euro suede with polished steel legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The fabric on upper back corner on back had a spot where the metal edging rubbed through fabric. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 20th to Early 21st Century.
Bright Red Chair…. EXTRORDINAIRE!!!!! WOW!!! We are in LOVE with this beauty!!! This is a BEAUTIFUL club chair by Carter fully upholstered in a fabulous bright red ultra soft “euro suede” fabric. It has a very deep T style foam seat cushion with poly on top and bottom but not the edges, an upholstered back support which holds the loose zippered poly wrapped foam back cushion, and it stands upon four squared & slightly tapered polished steel legs. We are attributing this chair to their Zen Collection as its design is much like the “Zen sofa” currently offered by Carter and though it’s technically Modern it will go really well with Postmodern décor too. It’s very comfortable, very bright, and very much NEEDS to be your new favorite vintage piece! It would be amazing in a corner of your bedroom or dressing area, in the living room across from your sofa, in your sitting room beside a wonderful accent table, or in the study flanking the fireplace. It bares the perfect POP of color for any room and it’s sure to be a fabulous conversation piece!

Maurice Villency began designing in the 1950’s at his own furniture loft in Greenwich Village, New York. He was born in Glasgow Scotland, the son of a cabinet maker and at the age of 19 he moved to the United States with his family and introduced Scandinavian Modern furniture with one of his first successes being a sectional. An outstanding pair of Regency upholstered tub chairs in the Egyptian style decorated in deep vert-de-bronze green and gilt. Elaborately hand-carved leopard masks continuing into lifelike clawed and padded feet. Giltwood manes and other decorated accents. This iconic tub chair owes to the Duke of Wellington and the family's home at Stratfield Saye House. Appropriately throne-like, the original was designed as a public gift to the immensely popular Duke whose military genius ultimately defeated Napoleon. While surely a bold accent anywhere, this design also works well in a library or an office. Original circa 1810.
