1950, Ray & Charles Eames for Herman Miller Set DSS Fiberglass Stacking Chairs

The chairs show traces of use like some scratches on the shells and tiny damages. One shell has some damage on the back of the back (picture #10) and one has some damage like a crack on the edge on the side (#13). The bases have rusty stains which can even be polished better so possibly become even better with some care and polishing. The chairs are stackable. Besides this set we have many more chairs with the same color shells and bases. (From the bases in stock some have more rusty spots than the other) Weight 5 kg The total width of the chair incl the base is 60 cm and the width of the seat is 46 cm

In 1956, he designed the S Chair which can be considered a forerunner of the Panton chair. He saw it as an item of furniture in which the back, seat and legs were made of the same material and in one continuous piece. It was first produced in 1965. Panton made a series of sketches and design drawings for the Panton chair in the 1950s. In 1960, he created his first model, a plaster-cast, in collaboration with Dansk Akrylteknik. In the mid-1960s, he met Willi Fehlbaum, who, unlike many other producers, was fascinated with the drawings of his legless chair...
