Pair of Blue Edward Wormley for Dunbar Slipper Chairs

About the Item

1950's Classic American mid-century Edward Wormley for Dunbar slipper chairs model #127. With its timeless yet fashion-forward appeal these chairs are one of the most recognized designs done by Wormley. These low-profile chairs featuring a minimalistic yet sophisticated design in black ebonized finish frames, padded backs and sloped seats. Artfully indulgent, this elegant armless chair beckons in luxe, modern blue velvet. Its armless design makes it easy to lounge in and is perfect for curling up while the unique button tufting design adds a tailored touch make this matching pair a wonderful find! The beautifully tapered legs and sturdy build of these chairs provide reliable stability while its plush upholstery offers outstanding comfort. Completely restored, including fully restored frames, new foam and stain. These chairs are in excellent condition and are ready for use. With a streamlined structure, these chairs will blend seamlessly into any existing decor. As the longtime director of design for the Dunbar furniture company, Edward Wormley was, along with such peers as George Nelson at Herman Miller Inc., and Florence Knoll of Knoll Inc., one of the leading forces in bringing modern design into American homes in the mid-20th century. Not an axiomatic modernist, Wormley deeply appreciated traditional design, and consequently his work has an understated warmth and a timeless quality that sets it apart from other furnishings of the era.
