Pair Pierre Paulin Ribbon Chairs for Artifort

About the Item

Original pair of ribbon chairs model 582, designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort. A striking, space-age form with curving planes. Incredible swooping lines and contoured shape. Perhaps the most comfortable seating solution in the world, the Ribbon chair is a loop of upholstered foam that gently cradles the body and provides superlative ergonomic support, floating on pedestal base. The sculptural form is elevated by luxurious Boucle. Pristine condition, expertly reupholstered with restored lacquered base. An Iconic design by Pierre Paulin, these are as much pieces of sculpture as furniture. Sexy, playful, exuberant yet comfortable, his furniture is above all supple and lively. Featured in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, and the MoMa, Museum of Modern Art, in New York. Literature: Pierre Paulin: Un Univers de Formes, Chapoutot, ppg. 66-67 Design for Living: Furniture and Lighting 1950-2000, Hanks and Hoy, pg. 96.
