Peacock Chair Designed by Verner Panton for Plus Linje, Denmark, 1960

About the Item

Designed by Verner Panton in 1959 and produced by Plus-Linje in Denmark in 1960, the Peacock chair is a design classic. Consisting of a bowl-shaped top and a cylindrical foot made from stainless steel rod. The two parts are connectable with clips for a floor standing version. The bowl-shaped top can be used separately on the floor and hung from the ceiling. The chair has 7 removable seat cushions upholstered with grey woollen fabric. The early documented Plus-Linje models have a conical base section, whereas this example, and most others in circulation, have a cylindrical base. This could be from the limited re-release in 1990 by Habitat.
