Pernilla High Chair by Bruno Mathsson for Firma Karl Mathsson 1940s

About the Item

A visionary in his time, Mathsson was along side Aalto and other makers who try to push the boundary of material and design, by leaning into bent wood to express forms and function. This is a well preserved iconic Pernilla high back (1944) chair in original fabric weaves and leather headrest cushion, first generation, produced by FIrma Karl Mathsson, Bruno Mathsson's father. It is not to be mistaken with the later generation where Dux bought the rights to produce "Pernilla 69" (1969 was the year Dux kicked started the production). The Chair is in great condition, frame is vintage but still structurally sound. Weaving is still in good shape, some stains on the edge of the seat. We do ofter re-weaving by request.
