Antique pair of Dante chairs and sofa in solid ebonized walnut hand carved and shaped , from 19th century. Florentine Renaissance.
Period: 19th century
Material: solid walnut hand-carved.
State: In good condition restored. Performed polishing with shellac the wooden part

History and curiosity of objects: From a Palladian palace entrance of Vicenza.
Solid and handsome Savonarola chair also called a "Dante" chair is beautifully carved warm naturally aged walnut. This chair has its origins during the Italian Renaissance Revival period of the 1860s and 1870s. The arms have acanthus leaves carves at the shoulders with round medallions at the centre joints. The feet are carved lion paws.
