Mario Buatta Custom Slipper Chair in Floral Fabric - Barbara J. Walters Estate
About the Item
20th c., American, a floral print linen slipcover over a vintage chair. A beautiful Buatta fabric slipcover with flora, fauna and dragonflies on a duck egg blue ground. The seat and skirt are trimmed in a blush pink fabric. Beneath the tailored slipcover is a well loved Parsons style chair. Buatta was known to recover items of furniture many times over.

33"h x 22"w x 24"d, 17"h (to seat)
Condition:
Good/Fair, vibrant colors with little fading, small stains to seat, under fabric worn with tears. Wear consistent with age and use. Careful professional cleaning of the slipcover would bring additional life to the beautiful fabric.

When Barbara Walters moved into the Fifth Avenue apartment in the late 1980s, she enlisted the help of interior designer Mario Buatta to fill it with fine art, antique furniture, and souvenirs from her international travels. Over time, the apartment saw new additions in the form of gifts from friends, including items from John Lennon and Yoko Ono, according to Curbed.
The apartments' decor became a reflection of Walters’ trailblazing career in media and a space that frequently hosted 30-person dinners including some of the most famous in politics, fashion, art, and media.
