Vintage circa 1950's British Railways Train Sofa Bench Seating Drop Down Arms

About the Item

We are delighted to offer this lovely original circa 1950’s reclaimed British Railways three seat sofa with drop down arms A very good looking and well made piece, if you grew up in the same era as me you will remember the tail end of these types of sofas on trains, they were super comfortable by todays standards and the folding arms were a god send if you wanted to lay down for a nap on a long journey! This sofa is in really fine condition, the arms move as they should, the back which was left open when removed has been upholstered with vintage hessian that has been hand nail tacked in place using antique Victorian nails. It would look fantastic in a bar or a great conversation piece in the home, it has the original hand sewn BR head rest covers which seem to be new old stock Conditions wise, the timber has been cleaned waxed and polished, there are some light marks around the base from movement Dimensions Height:- 113cm Width:- 188cm Depth:- 87cm Seat height:- 41cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses RH20 1DF. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
