Vladimir Kagan Pair of Corkscrew Swivel Chairs for Directional in Bouclé, Signed

About the Item

Newly reupholstered in a soft and nubby white bouclé, this pair of 'Corkscrew' swivel chairs by Vladimir Kagan for Directional, circa 1980 are signed with a Directional labels underneath. These classic club chairs swivels 180 degrees on a black circular wooden base. We also have matching 'Cloud' sofas, also by Vladimir Kagan for Directional and were often paired together with the Corkscrew chairs. Contact us or see our other listings for more details. Noted by Kagan as one of his most popular designs, along with the Nautilus chair which is a similar design that is often misattributed to the Corkscrew chair, so popular that in the 1980s and 1990s other companies started to produce the design without his permission. Examples produced by Directional however were the correct authentic examples that he created the design for - so this set of signed Corkscrew club chairs are great for Kagan collectors as well as interior designers with clients who enjoy authentic and original designs. The curvaceous design of these Vladimir Kagan for Directional Furniture 'Corkscrew' aka Nautilus swivel armchairs make this piece a great conversation starter in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as game chairs, side chairs, dining, cafe or breakfast table chairs, bedside chairs, fireside chairs, dressing or changing room chairs, hallway chairs, entryway or mudroom chairs, nursing or reading chairs, conference room chairs, office or desk guest chairs, lobby lounge chairs or occasional chairs ideal in virtually any setting. By Vladimir Kagan
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
This rare collectors piece is the Vladimir Kagan model #100-A 'Barrel Lounge Chair' on ball casters, designed in 1947, signed with Vladimir Kagan Designs label. • Vladimir Kagan 'Rock Star' Pair of Leather Rocking Chairs, c. 1997, Signed
    By Vladimir Kagan, American Leather
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
This pair of black leather rocking armchairs are by Vladimir Kagan for the Kagan Collection, by American Leather (previously LeatherTech). Designed in circa 1997 and called the 'Rock Star' lounge chair due to its rocking chair abilities cleverly disguised underneath with hidden wooden runners and signature rounded form, the curved arms and integrated seat cushion gives the look of a molded chair. What's a huge upside about these examples are that they have LeatherTech labels underneath instead of the common and newer American Leather labels. In the 1990s the company was originally founded as LeatherTech and brought huge innovations into the furniture and design industry. Later, in the early 2000's they changed their name to American Leather. Earlier examples made prior to the name change such as this pair are sought-after by collectors and generally carry greater worth. With Postmodern soaring in popularity, this club chair is just as relevant today as it was when it was first introduced. An excellent choice for designers and collectors alike, the chair and ottoman are signed underneath with The Kagan collection labels and leather swatch...
