18th Century, Baroque Walnut Marquetry Blanket Chest

About the Item

The chest is from the Baroque period circa 1750, the chest is covered with a walnut marquetry, the body is also spruce. The lid of the chest is raised by placing the flap of the side storage compartment, as it should be. The chest is in very good restored condition, hand polished. The feet have probably been added sometime in the course of time. The original snap lock has been repaired and is functional, the handles are brass and original.

  • Condition:
    Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Loose wooden parts were glued together, the wood was carefully stripped and delicately sanded, then polished by hand. The lock was repaired. The feet were probably added in the course of time.
