English 19th Century Oak Bookcase with Glass Doors, Drawers and Pilasters

About the Item

An English oak bookcase from the 19th century, with carved cornice, glass doors, three drawers and pilaster motifs. Created in England during the 19th century, this oak bookcase features a molded cornice with protruding center and dentil molding, sitting above pair of glass doors. These doors are adorned with an arch coming to rest on fluted pilasters topped with Doric style capitals. They open to reveal a blue green painted interior made of several shelves with carved front. The center is marked by a pull-out shelf on which one could place an open book. The lower section showcases three drawers fitted with ornate brass hardware and flanked with pilasters echoed from the top. The ensemble is raised on bracket feet. The sides are plain and the back is, of course, unfinished. With its tall silhouette and carved décor, this English oak bookcase from the 19th century will bring a touch of British elegance to any living room or study!.
