French 19th Century Louis XV Style Tulipwood and Ormolu Bibus
About the Item
An elegant French 19th century Louis XV st. tulipwood and ormolu mounted Bibus, stamped F.Durand FILS. The Étagère is raised by Fine cabriole legs with beautiful wrap around ormolu sabots. A most decorative ormolu filet extends along the scalloped shaped frieze and each leg. At the center are two adjustable shelves on a striking Herringbone designed back panel and framed within a Fine ormolu band. Each side displays a most decorative striking Herringbone pattern and richly chased pierced foliate ormolu mounts at each corner. Above is the original Brèche d'Alep marble top which follows the contours of the etagere and displays a double mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
