French Henry II Castle Dresser Sideboard credenza Buffet - Renaissance - 19th
By Jacques Androuet Du Cerceau
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Wonderful castle sideboard, dresser, cabinet, sideboard-credenza in richly carved oak with two-bodies with openings with 2 doors in the upper part and 4 doors in the lower part.
The piece of furniture has 3 drawers carved into belts. The 3 drawers are almost invisible on the central belt, they are secret drawers.
Richly carved with lions, scrolls of foliage, plants, cornucopia and fruit. The 2 lion heads at the upper ends of the furniture are fascinating, and almost seem to be moving because they are so well executed.
The sculptures are delicate and fine, yet deep.
Beautiful storage space with doors and drawers and display space in the credenza.
Henry II style, Renaissance, Renaissance Revival.

Circa 1880 French Carved Oak Demi Lune Buffet de Chasse
Located in Dallas, TX
From France, circa 1880, this exceptional buffet features curved ends, giving the cabinet an overall demilune shape. Carved by hand by an immensely talented woodworker, the motifs on the two center doors depict a fowl trophy (left door) and a fish trophy (right door), making this a buffet de chasse (hunting buffet). Both of the trophies, which are bas-relief, are surrounded by an arabesque of foliage, lozenges, and rinceaux, that is in turn encompassed by a rectangular molding adorned with a repeating latticework of lozenges. This same border also embellishes the two curved side doors, encircling a large bouquet of fruit and flowers carved in relief. The two center doors open to reveal a large compartment with a single shelf, while both of the side doors front separate compartments with a wedge-shaped shelf.
Above each door is a belt drawer with small pendant pulls set within a sprawling foliate margent with floral terminals. Each drawer is flanked by two raised rectangular panels festooned with detailed leaf clusters. Directly beneath two of the leaf bouquets on the front façade are two protruding pilasters that separate the side doors from the main compartment doors. These supports have been carved with a fluted volute topped by a large leaf above a margent of assorted fruits. Beneath the pilasters is a protruding apron that is flush with the floor, carved with angular foliate niches and concentric roundels. More rounded version of the infilled niches grace the quarter-round molding that enhances the top, with a pull-out bread board that tops the front two drawers. The craftsmanship of our demi lune buffet...

Mid-Century French Louis XIV Carved Walnut Two-Door "Buffet de Chasse"
Located in Dallas, TX
Decorate an entry or a living room with this elegant buffet. Crafted in France circa 1970, and built of walnut, the cabinet stands on a thick plinth base. The piece features two arched paneled doors decorated with carved floral motifs in the corners, and flanked with small rectangular doors on both sides with decorative double hinges. Opening the side doors and center double doors of the cabinet, it reveals a light blue painted interior with two shelves for ultimate storage. The top with rounded corners is also built of walnut over two small frieze cutlery drawers dressed with iron pulls, and embellished with carved geometric decor. The narrow Louis XIV style buffet is in excellent condition and adorns a rich walnut patina. Versatile, it could also be used in a hallway, a bedroom, or converted into a vanity cabinet with the addition of a sink.
