French 19th Century Empire Period Flamed Mahogany, Patinated and Ormolu Cabinet

About the Item

An extremely handsome French 19th century Empire period flamed mahogany, patinated and ormolu two-door cabinet. The cabinet is raised by richly carved black patinated paw feet with gilt accents. Above, block reserves center the straight frieze showcasing the beautiful flamed mahogany grain. At the center are two doors which open to reveal one shelf. Each door displays an ormolu keyhole escutcheon and retains their original mirror plate with elegant X shaped cross arrows centered by a mottled rosette. To each side are tapered columns with most decorative ormolu feet below and a detailed caryatid. Above is the striking original fossilized Kilkenny marble top.
