Rare And Fine Alfred Dunhill’s “The White Spot” Pipe Display Case

About the Item

In very good original condition and originally a fixture in the world famous The White Spot Tobacconist, London. Alfred Dunhill opened his Shop in 1907 to great acclaim. In 1912 Mr.. Dunhill introduced a White Dot on his Pipes which, when correctly aligned, made sure the Stem and Bowl of the Pipe were in the proper position, hence the name The White Spot. The Pipe Display Cabinet dates to the Early 20th Century and bears the Shop name in inlaid contrasting wood at the top. In an Amber tone well figured wood, the case features Ebonized Egg and Dart Trim to the Cornish, the supports with Ebonized Bow and Bell Flower Detail, the Glazed Door with Canted Cornice set with Ebonized Leaf Motif Corners with Beaded Surround. The Glass on both the Door and Sides is fully Beveled. The whole raised on Square Tapering Legs with Spade Foot. While there are the original Brass Pegs to hold two shelves, there is no glass and new shelves will need to be re-cut. Condition: Please see all detail photos. The Display Case is in overall good condition with only minimal and acceptable age-borne wear including a chip to the top center on the Ebonized trim, and a few nicks to the frame edges. The Display Cabinet measures 28.75” wide by 12.5” deep by 68.25” high.
