English Mahogany Chippendale Chest on Chest

About the Item

English mahogany Chippendale chest on chest has the original Rococo hardware. It has Fine fretwork in the frieze and the broken arch pediment. The blind fretwork extends to the sides and on the base of the upper section. The chamfered corners also have blind fretwork terminating in lamb’s tongue molding. The bottom section has spiraled gadrooning with stop fluted quarter columns and matching gadrooned molding on the base, which terminates in floral carved ogee feet. This piece is the best example of a Chippendale chest on chest that we have seen.
