French Provincial Directoire Commode Chest of Drawers, 19th Century
About the Item
A classically designed French Directoire period commode. Constructed of walnut that’s gained a fantastic patina over time. The chest is a bank of 5 drawers, three small over two long drawers. Shield shaped escutcheons. One key.
Easy to use brass handles easily open all but the top centre drawer, One of these has been replaced in the past. Recently cleaned and polished with French wax paste to revitalize the beautiful wood.
Fluted joinery adorns every corner and terminates with simple tapering leg.
