1950's Custom Made Mid-Century Modern Glass Door Mahogany Rosewood Credenza

About the Item

Pictures don't this piece justice. The mahogany (possibly Mindoro) shimmers and gleams with an almost indescribable Iridescence that looks like rivers of honey that form the ebbing and flowing grain. The tones and hues of the piece change depending on how the light hits it and where your eye catches it. You'll see amber, ochre, honey, and umber. The warm wood tones bisect with the unique checkered glass to demonstrate a harmonious mix of elements. These doors are 100% original to the cabinet and look like new. Textured on one side and smooth on the other, you can reverse one or all of the doors to customize the look. All four doors slide easily but since there are no pulls, you might not want to trim your fingernails too short. We purchased this cabinet from the original owners who had it custom made in the late 1950's. At 96" long, this cabinet can accommodate. Although it looks similar to the works to Jens Risom and Arne Vodder, this is a custom, made 1 of 1 cabinet. Moreover, our restoration team married this top with a vintage rosewood base we had on hand. The rosewood base was harvested from a massive 60's Danish credenza and we've been waiting for this perfect opportunity. The base with it's architectural legs and spanner "stretcher" create a rock solid foundation that provides added functionality to the display cabinet. The 4 interior glass shelves are original and still look great. All 12 shelf brackets are brand new, and can be adjusted to any position. This piece was designed for serious storage. Ideal as an entryway piece or dry bar for display of a stellar whiskey collection. The exceptional length is also the perfect dimension for your flat screen TV if you choose to use this as a media cabinet. The interior of the unit features 2 large open cabinet spaces and removable / adjustable glass shelves. A true masterpiece mix of solid mahogany and mahogany veneer over plywood core. The construction, materials, fit and finish exhibit a quality seldom seen, even from respected makers. Fully restored, with only very minor imperfections. Dimensions: The cabinet is 11 7/8" Deep, but the legs are 14" deep 33" H x 96" L

  • Thomasville Embassy Wood Inlay Asian Modern Campaign Style Brass Accent Credenza
By Henredon, Dorothy Draper, Thomasville, Drexel
    Located in Chattanooga, TN
Dorothy Draper style campaign credenza made by esteemed US furniture maker Thomasville circa 1970s. Old growth flaxen flared grain fruitwood (most likely pecan) from top to bottom are the hallmarks of the Embassy line. Black lacquer accents and brass pull hardware tie together British traditional and Eastern design. The door facades exhibit a diamond pattern wood inlay with contrasting color tones, presented tastefully to demonstrate a delicate ornate sensibility. Two large Interior cabinet spaces offer heaps of open storage with a single stationary shelf in each bay. No composite or MDF anywhere on this campaign credenza. Thomasville used a combination of solid hardwood interiors, solid fruitwood and veneers. We purchased this from the original owners out of time-capsule estate and nearly everything in the home was from the Thomasville Embassy...
