19th Century French Louis XV Style Floral Marquetry and Gilt Bronze Writing Desk
About the Item
A very fine and well-proportioned 19th century French Louis XV style ladies desk. The case is veneered with marquetry decoration and embellished with finely cast and finished gilt bronze mounts.
Of freestanding form, made of kingwood and mahogany, with beautiful marquetry inlays. The gilt bronze mounts rise from cabriole legs with foliate form bronze sabots. The apron houses a generous sized central drawer, floral bouquets throughout.
This fine quality writing desk or bureau plat, is circa 1880.
It has been recently restored and refinished by our in house Ebeniste from the reputable Ecole Boulle in Paris, France.
