French Louis XV Style Bureau Plat with Ormolu Mounts French Flat Desk
About the Item
A very fine large sized flat desk otherwise referred to as a "Bureau de Ministre", Bureau Plat or Ministers Flat Desk. Extremely finely chiseled bronze. Slightly protruding, profiled tabletop, flanked by exquisite bronze on each corner. The frame has a wide knee pocket, ending on four cabriole legs.
Carefully hand-crafted in rosewood, rosewood veneer and kingwood. Exquisitely detailed marquetry on all sides, beautiful ornamentation of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes and palmettes. Original top framed in brass.
The desk is raised on traditional curved legs Louis XV style decorated with ormolu sabots. At the front apron is a central drawer with two smaller ones on one side. Each corner is ornamented with fine rosettes. The camel color desk top is stunning. Original gilt and warm patina throughout.

This very fine quality Louis XV Style Bureau Plat with Ormolu Mounts is a conversation piece, absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for a large office whether at home or otherwise. Would enhance any home library, study, home office, large den, living room or spacious bedroom.
