Antique Country French Secretary is the perfect answer to an efficient floor plan or a cozy room! Combining storage in the spacious pair of full-width drawers with a drop down desk surface with no less than six small drawers inside, it provides storage and workspace in one piece, all barely a foot and a half deep when closed! Hand-crafted from solid oak, it features cast brass key guard and drawer pulls as accents, but the carved detail is what really catches the eye. Inspired by the Louis XIV style, the drop-front features bold stylized shell, floral and foliate motifs in relief creating a fanciful framework. Pull out the two supports when the desk is needed and drop the desk down for a perfect writing surface or place for your laptop or tablet. Plenty of storage space in the six interior drawers is ideal for small office or work-related items. Above the drop-front desk is a subtly contoured top onto which one can place items for quick access or use as a display surface. The contours are mirrored in the apron below, which also sports complementary shell, floral and folaite carvings on a cross-hatched background, leading the eye out to the boldly scrolled legs adorned with shell crests and animal paw feet. The drawer facades are flanked by rounded, carved cornerposts, and feature carvings more subtle yet still very complementary to the drop-front above, with easy access to the storage afforded by the beautiful cast brass pulls.
