Chinese Export Lacquer Bureau on Stand and Toilet Glass Dressing Table

About the Item

A Chinese export lacquer bureau on stand decorated with an unusual polychrome flower design This Chinese lacquer bureau on stand was made in China in the mid-18th century, circa 1750 Its design comes from Western prototypes and adapted in the Chinese style Acquired in country house condition, we found the thick French varnish had discolored, muting the rich and vibrant colors below. Thankfully we have been able to remove the varnish without affecting the layers of lacquer below. Further cabinet work was carried out to check the carcass and general condition. Being so prominent, it is very rare to find a Chinese lacquer toilet mirror of this date still intact Measures: H 66.15 in. x W 27.56 in. x D 16.93 in. H 168 cm x W 70 cm x D 43 cm A Chinese export lacquer bureau on stand decorated with an unusual polychrome flower design.
