English Glass Front William IV Mahogany Secretary Bookcase

About the Item

A stylish English mahogany William IV period piece, (ca. 1830), with a strikingly arched cornice terminating in half palmettes. Arched tracery distinguishes the glass doors of the top display cabinet, and the interior of the cabinet below is fitted with linen slides. The case is in two pieces for easier moving. A fitted fall front desk is concealed within the large drawer, complete with satinwood fronted pigeonholes and 6 small satinwood drawers. The timber is rich in color and figure, with each door and drawer front handsomely cross banded. Good antique condition, typical signs of age and use, small restorations. Well matched French feet are later. French polished. H: 93 1/4 W: 48 1/2 D: 20 1/4
