1970s Aluminum and Glass Orba Wall Unit by Janet Schweitzer for Pace Collection

About the Item

A stunning aluminum and glass Orba wall unit designed by Janet Schweitzer for the Pace Collection in 1974 with peak space age styling: innovative, sophisticated, and minimalist. Ingeniously designed with extruded tubes of polished rounded aluminum mounted on a concealed metal bar to provide vertical support and hide the piece’s cantilevered supports and joinery. Both bays are perfect for storing book, magazines, records, or displaying objects. The left hand bay has two shelves, one with an under-shelf lamp, that allow for placement of taller objects on top of the light burl wood wall-mounted cabinet, such as a turntable, a bar or even a small television. The right bay has 3 glass shelves, one with an under-shelf lamp, and the wall-mounted burl cabinet. Each honey-colored burl wood cabinet has dramatic grain patterning, two doors with push-click closures, and a single adjustable and removable shelf. In very good vintage condition with minimal wear on the wood, aluminum or glass. No significant scratches or chips. All glass shelves are original and both lamps have been rewired. This unit breaks down into multiple pieces for ease of transportation. Measures: 72” x 80” x 18”.
