Mid-19th Century French Napoleon III Period Burl Walnut Vitrine or Bookcase
About the Item
This mid-19th century French Napoleon III period vitrine or bookcase is constructed of burl walnut and features clean simple lines. Providing an elegant contrast, the piece is trimmed in ebonized pearwood. Of an unusual size with its narrow width of 43.5 inches, its upper cabinet is fitted with a single glass door and contains four adjustable interior shelves, one of which includes two small drawers of dovetail construction. Below the door, a lower drawer with a sliding lid opens to provide additional storage space. A handsome piece that blends beautifully in all interiors, circa 1860. Includes a key with functioning locks.
