Javanese Antique Teak Armoire with Slatted Motifs, Tapered Feet and Patina

About the Item

An antique Javanese hand-carved teak armoire from the early 20th century, with slatted motifs, slightly carved legs and nice patina. Created on the island of Java during the early years of the 20th century, this teak wood armoire features a linear, sturdy silhouette, perfectly complimented by a warm brown patina. Topped with a inverted stepped cornice, the armoire showcases two doors adorned with slatted motifs, followed by arching accents and recessed panels. The armoire was found in a local village and such pieces were often used as dowry gifts. The carving seen throughout is original. The doors open to reveal inner shelves. The sides are completely slatted in their upper section and present recessed panels at the bottom while the back is planked. The armoire is raised on four tapered feet with carved accents on the knees. We review all of our pieces and address issues we may find before they leave for your home; however, this is an antique piece, and as such it will keep its character and some imperfections, which is the quintessence of antique and vintage furniture. Boasting a nice patina, this Javanese teak armoire from the early 20th century will make for a great addition to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or bedroom and used as a media cabinet.
