Original Hand Painted Armoire, Hungary circa 1820-40

About the Item

This painted pine armoire still maintains the quality and details of the original hand-painted finish in an earth tone pallet. The floral patterns against the faux wood painted background were the traditional folk art style of the era. Notice how the 4 panels of flowers in vases on the front doors are accented with a vine of flowers along the canted sides and again on the side panels. The interior is divided with shelves on the right and vertical storage on the left. There is space/notches in place to add a short hanging rod if so desired. The left door is held in place with an interior latch; the right door secures by a small metal latch at the exterior top of the door (lock no longer functions, 1 key included as pull only). This painted two-door armoire has been restored and waxed so it is strong, stable and ready to use. Age related wear include dings, old repairs, cracks, scratches, age related separation to planks in back, distress etc.; while seen throughout the armoire they do not detract from the beauty nor function of this wonderful folk-art find. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting may all impact how item is viewed.
