Antique English Mahogany Geo, III Triple Folding Shaped Top Card Table

About the Item

Very rare antique English mahogany period Geo. III triple folding shaped top card table. This is a particularly rare triple folding games table with the first opening revealing a baize covered interior with four corner candle stands. The second opening reveals a lovely butterfly shaped flap-top table. Please note, the brass pulls are antique. There are age-related cracks to two legs (see images). Full dimensions: 30.5" W (closed). 14.5" D (closed). 30.5" W (open). 29.75 D (open). 27.5" H.

With superlative marquetry inlays of satinwood quarter fans on the perimeter of each drawer as well as "Adam" style satinwood and ebony fan escutcheons, to the delicate checkered inlay on the cornice frieze, this Chest on Chest has it all. Please note that this is a superior made Chest on Chest having elm drawer linings versus the traditional oak or deal (pine) all standing upon handsome ogee feet.
