Chinoiserie Brown Lacquer and Gilt Decorated Coffee Table

About the Item

An attractive French chinoiserie brown lacquer coffee or cocktail table with gilt painted decoration, circa 1940's, France. Set upon graceful cabriole legs and draped apron, the top has been parcel-gilt with a design of two long tailed birds perched among a rocky outcrop and flowering branches in a garden setting. The aged lacquer displays a nice crackle effect, adding surface texture.
