Chinese Round Leg Altar Table, c. 1800

About the Item

With a clean lines and minimal decoration, this 19th-century offering table is at home in any contemporary room. Despite its modern form, the table incorporates many fundamental features of traditional Chinese table design: round legs linked by simple stretchers, a curved apron, and a floating panel tabletop. The dark brown lacquer finish has aged beautifully with time, developing a smooth, patinated texture and revealing the warm color of the Chinese northern elm (yumu) underneath.
