Italian 19th Century Giltwood Console And Mirror
About the Item
A spectacular Italian 19th century giltwood console and mirror. The console is raised on richly carved 'S' scrolled legs joined by an acanthus leaf design. The scalloped apron has a central pierced reserve of acanthus leaves and scrolls which continue at the corners and sides. The curved and moulded top is inset with a brocatelle Jaune du Jura marble. The mirror with its original mirror plate and moulded frame is richly carved with scrolls and acanthus leaves. At the top is an elaborately initialed central crest displayed by a putti on each side. Scrolls, flowers and acanthus leaf carvings flank each corner and intricately carved floral garlands decorate the sides. All original gilt. The console height is 36" and mirror height is 98".
