19th Century Spanish Renaissance Style Walnut Table with Forged Iron Stretcher

About the Item

This late nineteenth century walnut table from France features a hand-carved beveled top made from a single piece of wood, and rests on classic barley twist legs. Barley twist stretchers are joined to the legs at the hand pegged lower die joints, and hand forged iron braces from the stretchers to the underneath side of the top provide additional stability. Each die joint is detailed with hand-carved rosettes, and ball feet complete the look. With its rich patina that only comes with age and its Spanish Renaissance style, this piece will add warmth to any interior. Small in scale, its top measures 46.5 inches long and 29.5 inches wide, making this table ideal as a writing desk, circa 1880.
