French Louis XV Style Kingwood Parquetry Bonheur du jour

About the Item

Sophisticated French elegance at its finest, we offer this rare Belle Époque period light and graceful bonheur du jour (writing table - petite / lady's desk) with beautifully aged patina. Finely hand crafted in France in the early 20th century, finished in luxurious Louis XV taste, this exceptionally executed Parisian work features exotic Kingwood parquetry inlays, an exquisitely shaped cartonnier (an ornamental box or file cabinet for letters, papers or important documents) is surmounted by a ormolu mounted crown, with two shelves, above the smoothly shaped bureau plat with gilt-metal rim, inset gilt-tooled burgundy distressed leather writing surface, fitted with a single large drawer with dovetail joinery, divided interior and serpentine shaped drawer front, gracefully rising on four gilt bronze mounted long slender cabriole legs, terminating in bronze sabots. This sophisticated antique, circa 1910, is freestanding and beautifully finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in the room.
