Neoclassical Bureau Plat, France around 1800
About the Item
French bureau plat on square tapered legs with brass sabots and small castors. The desk is veneered in mahogany and the writing surface is covered in congac-colored leather. The keyholes are lined with brass and the tabletop is edged with a brass profile. Four lockable drawers provide ample storage space, with the right-hand drawer featuring a lockable secret compartment and removable inserts. There are extendable work surfaces on the narrow sides, which are also covered in leather. The maximum overall length of the desk is 225 cm. The desk has been restored and polished.
