RJ Horner & Co French Marble Top One-Drawer Writing Table with Ormolu
About the Item
A beautiful French mahogany one-drawer rectangular writing table with green variegated marble top, with well articulated cast doré foliate ormolu and edge banding on the frieze on all four sides, as well as figural ormolu on each corner, supported by four tapered square legs with shaped base stretcher, terminating with bronze caps and porcelain casters. A label appears on the base which reads “Imported from Paris by R.J. Horner & Co, Furniture Makers, 61,63,65 West 23rd Street, New York”. The table dates to the late 19th century and is in very good overall condition, with minor imperfections, light ormolu verdigris and polish residue, and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 31 in H x 39.5 in W x 23.75 in D.
