Neoclassical Expandable Dining Table, Solid Cherry, Chestnut, France circa 1820

About the Item

Beautiful, big and straight-lined neoclassical Restauration / Biedermeier Expandable / extending dining room table in solid cherry wood and chestnut, from Bretagne, France about 1820. Lovely bright solid cherry wood, chestnut inner panel filling on the extending plate. The plate can be pulled out from under the main plate, sliding on a felt, while the height stays the same. It makes the table 96 cm longer and is quick and easy to be extended. The dining table furthermore has one drawer on one frontside. Underneath you can see the old hand-made pull-out mechanism in oak solid wood. Restored condition. Surface treated with fine matte wax polish. Dimensions: Height 83 cm, height under the apron to the floor is 66 cm Length 194 cm + 96 cm = total length 290 cm, possible for approx. 12 people to sit, when expanded Depth 86 cm.
