George I Walnut and Laburnum Oyster Veneer Dressing Table c. 1730
About the Item
A very handsome and early Georgian figured walnut dressing table on cabriole legs with three featherbanded frieze drawers each with twin brass drop handles with split pin fixings and which appear to be original and lovely elaborately pierced escutcheons and original iron locks.
The oversailing top with book matched panels of thickly cut walnut veneers inset with large laburnum oyster veneers and with a lovely deeply crossbanded and featherbanded border.
Original oak drawer linings and all set on substantial cabriole legs on wedged blocked feet.
Minor repairs and restorations consistent with age and use. The whole with a very well developed colour and patination from centuries of wax, care and use. Small repairs and restorations consistent with age and use but a very original and early Georgian dressing table in very good, solid and usable order.
