Side table by Baur, Gass & Schamber, Paris, Circa 1870
Louis XV / Rococo Style.
Kingwood crossbanded applied veneer with mercury gilt bronze applications. Having a polished Italian Marble top of Rosso Veneto. Kingwood is the precios type of rosewood.
The mercury, gilded bronzes are of the finest quality, the whole table is in all aspects equal to the quality of Beurdeley and Linke.
We crate and ship regularly worldwide. Our price includes worldwide shipping.
We do know that Schamber produced some of the finest pieces of the time, but not so many have come forth on the markets available for sale. A pair of side tables in auction were seen in Dallas Texas Heritage Auction Galleries Decorative Arts Signature Auction Catalog #637, also in another auction at Bonhams London a large books case. Both pieces of furniture hit rather larger amounts in the final bidding. They are listed in the archives in Paris as Baur, Gass & Schamber/ Ebenisterie de luxe/Mosaique et Marqueterie/ 75 Faubourg St. Antoine/Paris/ Reproduction de Meubles Anciens.
