Rare Artwork by Helja Liukko-sundstrom, "Supporting each other", 1998
About the Item
A rare example of Heljä Liukko-Sundström's (b.1938) artworks produced by Arabia Ceramics, Finland. Displayed in portrait, the scene titled, "Supporting each other", displays a quaint vista, with three bird figures interacting at the top of the staircase, and with an isolated angel figure to the right of the scene.
Liukko-Sundström uses the three-dimensionality of the clay medium, something developed by decades of experience as an industrial designer, to artfully create this piece. Using puddles of glaze to draw attention to the action of the setting, whilst simultaneously allowing for the abstracted landscape in the background to gesturally merge into the background.
A masterful example of her artistic capability, something little-known outside of Scandinavia.
The piece has no structural failings, nor chipping of glaze or staining on raw ceramic. The verso has no means to attach to the wall, so sprung hooks must be bought to accommodate hanging.

- Begga D’Haese, "Untitled" Pink Collage (c.2005)Located in London, EnglandA beautiful, geometric yet delicate collage, primarily of aged parchment and pink dye, on wood. This piece is one of few examples of D'Haese's (1934-2023), in collage. Known primarily for her tongue in cheek large-scale marble sculptures. This piece is more contemplative. Playing with ideas of the 70s, and onwards, influenced by Agnes Martin and the like, this piece is directly playing with the feminine. Delicate semi-circles lift from the ground divided into four quadrants, sometimes plain, sometimes heavily textured. The composition is complex yet undeniably playful. Different relationships are developed between each of the semi-circles, as well as amongst the complete whole, resulting in the harmonious total. Extremely compelling, and neutral for almost any space. The piece is in an acrylic box...Category
