18th Century Italian Trompe L'Oeil Painting On Canvas Of Musical Instruments

About the Item

Lovely 18th century Italian framed painting on canvas of a group of musical instruments, including a French horn, lute, violin and pan flute, all hanging from a ribbon with a big bow on top and tassels on the bottom. A very charming work in the muted palate of blues and pinks typical of 18th century Venice. Beautifully painted in the trompe l'oeil style. On the original stretcher in a later oak frame. My new favorite item. See condition below. Good scale: 54.75 inches high 25 wide 1.5 deep

The several old repairs and patches on the back of the canvas show this piece was much loved and, for me, only add to the allure. Some minor small imperfections to the surface consistent with age and use. Lower left corner the canvas has been tacked.
