1924 Propaganda Style Art Deco Drawing Switzerland and French Revolutionary Wars

Unique and original work of art about the history of Switzerland and France.
This impressive and powerful work of art is definitely unique and interesting for many reasons. First of all, the style in which this charcoal drawing (with patches of watercolor) was made, is typical of the era and a joy to look at. Secondly, the posters of this era are rare and sought after, so to find an original drawing makes this antique extra desirable. Thirdly, the powerful male and female figure show a kind of determination that is often found in propaganda posters from this era, but the quality of the execution lifts it to another level. Fourthly, if you read about the French revolutionary wars then you will understand more about the meaningfulness of this work of art and why the Swiss flag is laying on the ground and what had led up to this event in 1798. Fifthly, the artist who made this minor masterpiece was J. Nusink. J. Nusink was a scion of a famous Dutch family of cabinet makers who (in the twenties) actually handcrafted top-quality furniture for some of the best Dutch Art Deco designers from that era, such as Hildo Krop and Piet Kramer. Finally, why this Dutch artist chose this subject matter about the history of the becoming of modern day Switzerland on Christmas Eve of 1924, will probably remain a mystery. However, we are glad he did, because he left us a stunning work of art, a talking piece and the perfect collector's item to enjoy. It is in its original nutwood frame and behind the original antique glass. Again great value for money.
