About the Item
This is a fabulous photo shot by world renowned photographer Helmut Newton. This image was a custom commission for a Cadillac/GM in 2002. It was gifted to important players in the world of Cadillac. The car and the blonde a Newton favorite Evi, both strong symbols of sexuality, are under a lit bridge, a bit art deco in style. Helmut Newton was a German born photographer known for his fashion shoots and photos of women, often risqué for the time. This photo-litho is numbered 234/500 and signed Helmut Newton in the lower right. It is framed in a simple 1.5"D black frame. Most definitely a collector's item, as this black and white image was never offered for sale. This copy was obtained from the estate of a GM executive and is a rarity on the market.
Helmut Newton's distinct style of eroticism and highly produced images was deemed rebellious and revolutionary in its time, as he turned the expected notion of beauty, depicted by passive and submissive women, on its head. Depicting his models as strong and powerful women, Newton reversed gender stereotypes and examined society's understanding of female desire.

Helmut Newton
Famed fashion photographer Helmut Newton shot provocative black-and-white photographs of models for Vogue while also known as a fine art photographer. Vogue USA’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour once described Newton's work as “synonymous with Vogue at its most glamorous and mythic.”
Newton resided in France, later in Los Angeles, California, and was married to photographer Alice Springs.
