  • Softbound Program, 1966 Man Ray Los Angeles County Museum of Art Exhibition
    By Man Ray
    Located in San Diego, CA
A nice softbound program from Man Ray"s 1966 exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Ray was a key figure of Dada and Surrealism, one of the few Americans associated with either movement. Born Emmanuel Radnitzky, the artist adopted his pseudonym in 1909 and—while he also worked across painting, sculpture, video, and printmaking—became renowned for his striking, sensual black-and-white photographs. A number of his portraits—such as Larmes (Tears) (ca. 1932), which features a woman “crying...

  • Rare Linocut Poster "Vallavris Exhibition 1954" by Pablo Picasso
    By Pablo Picasso
    Located in San Diego, CA
Highly collectible and rare linocut poster "Vallavris Exhibition 1954" by Pablo Picasso, circa 1954.. The print is in good vintage and measures 24" x 30". It is presented in a simple black wood frame and is signed in the print. Super cool and hard to find Picasso poster! #2912 Starting in the 1950s, Picasso worked with the linocut printer Hidalgo Arnéra to produce posters for ceramic exhibitions and bullfights. The printer described their working method as such: “Picasso worked at night; in the morning, Marcel the chauffeur brought what he had completed to the print shop with notes added by Jacqueline Roque. I pulled the proofs and returned them to [his home] La Californie at exactly 1:30. This regular rhythm of working continued for eight years, every day, except Saturday and Sunday.” This idiosyncratic procedure speaks to the collaborative effort of these printmaking ventures, which included his partner, his printer, and his chauffeur Title: Vallauris Exhibition 1954 Artist: Pablo Picasso Printer: Printed by Hidalgo Arnéra Publisher: Published by Hidalgo Arnéra Date: 1954 Medium: Linoleum cut ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in 1881, Pablo Ruiz y Picasso followed in his father’s footsteps as an academically trained painter and studied art at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in his native Spain.
