Original Vintage London Underground Poster Transport Of Joy At The Zoo Elephant
About the Item
Original vintage London Transport travel poster for London Zoo via Camden Town Chalk Farm or Regents Park Underground Station - There's a Transport of Joy at the Zoo - featuring stunning artwork by the notable French Art Deco designer Jean Dupas (1882-1964) depicting two elegantly dressed ladies carrying parasol umbrellas and a young girl enjoying an elephant ride at the zoo in front of trees in the background, more ladies in fashionable summer dresses and a gentleman in a smart suit and hat in the foreground with the text and LPTB logo below. London Zoo opened in 1828 and is the world's oldest scientific zoo, located in Regent's Park in northwest London. The London Passenger Transport Board LPTB (1933-1948) symbol designed by C W Bacon was replaced by the iconic London Underground roundel less than a year after its invention. Good condition, restored tears, restored creasing, small restored paper losses on edges, minor staining, backed on linen.
