"Nude Dancers, " Rare Midcentury Color Print with Male Nudes by D'Anna
About the Item
This rare color print celebrating modern dance depicts several nude male figures bounding in the air and taking classic ballet positions on the floor below. The artist, Paolo D'Anna, was a good friend of ballet sensation Rudolf Nureyev, and his surviving work is almost entirely focused on dancers and dance. In this example, the contrast between the tan tones of the paper and the brilliant aquamarine and gold tones of the figures is striking. The artist signed the print in pencil in the lower right corner. (Dimensions include matte and frame; visible print dimensions are 22 inches high by 17 inches wide.)
