"The Fantastic Ride" is a lithograph signed in the lower right corner by the Spanish artist Salvador Dali (1904-1989). It is an artist proof numbered 63/175.
Dali is a leading artist, even a genius of the XXth century. He is known for his independence to the imagination and the right to madness. This atypical personality is in constant pursuit of the irrational. Dali is an artist of surrealism, a movement that focuses on the notion of dreams, reason and thoughts.
In this work we feel a strong inspiration to the Italian futurism in his way of cutting the movement of the horse. A woman's body is represented in the foreground with strong similarities to his work "Dream caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate one second before awakening" of 1944.
