“Bhavacakra” Framed Tibetan Thangka

About the Item

A framed Tibetan Buddhist thangka (a painted wall hanging) of Bhavacakra. Depicts Samsara, the "wheel of life" or cycle of existence, in the grasp of Yama the god of Death. Rich in iconography, Bhavacakra is often hung at the entrance to Tibetan monasteries. It is believed to have been outlined by the Gautama Buddha himself in order to help normal people understand Buddhist teachings. Painted on fabric and set in a brushed metal box frame. Framed on North La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles.
